Semester re-registration reminder
Aufforderung zur Rückmeldung · sent by Your university
Act now — this one has real deadlines
What this letter is
Your university reminding you to re-register (Rückmeldung) for the next semester by paying the semester fee within a fixed window. This is how you stay enrolled — enrolment is per-semester, not permanent. Missing the window triggers de-enrolment (Exmatrikulation), and because your residence permit is built on being enrolled, this small letter carries your whole legal status.
What to do
- Pay the semester fee immediately — the exact amount and account are in the letter or your campus portal; use the reference number exactly as given.
- Check the deadline, not the date you usually pay — windows differ per university and semester.
- Missed it? Most universities have a short grace period with a late fee (~€20–30). Pay today and email the Studierendensekretariat confirming you did.
- Already threatened with Exmatrikulation? See our Problems section — act the same week, this is recoverable but only quickly.
- After paying, download your new Immatrikulationsbescheinigung — you'll need it for the Ausländerbehörde and any job paperwork.
