Blocked account money isn't paying out
The situation
You arrived, you have rent to pay — but the blocked account provider hasn''t activated your monthly payout, and support is slow.
The way out
Unblock the blockers in order:
- Check the activation requirements in your provider's app: nearly all need (a) your German IBAN and (b) proof of arrival — usually your Anmeldebestätigung or entry stamp/visa. Half of all "delays" are a missing upload.
- No German account yet? That's the real blocker — open an online account today (see the bank step) and submit the IBAN.
- Uploaded everything? Providers typically activate within a few business days. Past that: one clear support ticket with your customer number, then a follow-up referencing the first. Their support responds; their queues just wobble at semester start.
- Bridge the gap: this is exactly what your separate arrival buffer (€1,500–3,000 outside the blocked account) exists for. Rent waits for no payout.
- Systemic lesson: the payout is monthly and fixed — budget within it, and keep the buffer account alive for deposit-sized surprises.
